In a follow-through to the successful advocacy mission in the US, eight (8) delegates composed of an IP elder and youth leaders left on September 10, 2019 for a 24-day advocacy mission on the situation of the Indigenous Peoples and the atrocities committed by the CTGs to IPs.
The IP Youth Leaders engaged with the UN organizations, foreign ministries, parliaments, NGOs and the Filipino communities in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and France. Three (3) of these countries are members of the powerful Group of Seven (G7). Belgium is the headquarters of the European Union (EU), the political and economic grouping of 28 countries in Europe, while Geneva hosts the Headquarters of the United Nations.
Noting the contributions of IPs especially in environmental and food security discourses, foreign government officials committed to look into the IP reports especially on the utilization of funds from European funding agencies by NGOs linked to CTGs, concerns on killings, torture, disappearances, and other human rights abuses of the CTGs.
